Alice Ann Klossner, 85, Pine Island

Alice Ann Klossner passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. She was 11 days short of her 86th birthday at the time of her death.

Alice was born November 22, 1937, in Pine Island, MN.  Alice was one of 8 children born to Robert and Gertrude (Heimberg) Klossner. Alice and her siblings were first generation Americans. Their parents were immigrants from Switzerland and Alice often talked about not speaking English when they started school.  She left school before graduation, but did receive her GED later in life.

Alice married Willam Dimler in 1956 and they made their home in Byron. Together they had 3 children; Debra, Marcia & Michael. After 33 years of marriage, they were divorced. She was married to David Holtan and they later divorced. Alice moved to Kasson where she lived in Senior Housing until her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s necessitated her moved to Cottagewood in Rochester. When she broke her hip, she moved to Pine Haven Rehabilitation Center and stayed in the nursing portion of the facility until her death.

Alice was a homemaker and worked part time at the local grocery store. She enjoyed her job and talking with all the customers that came in the store. She planted a large vegetable garden and took great pride in canning vegetables and fruit that would last the family all winter. She was a fabulous cook and was able to make even the most meager ingredients taste like a feast. Her potato salad and homemade bread were always requested at family gatherings.

Alice is survived by her children, Debra (David) Warnke-Zumbro Falls, Marcia (Gregg) Sonnabend-Kasson, Michael (Karen) Dimler, Mankato,; grandchildren, Tyler (Becky) Dimler, Dylan Kuiper, Wade Kuiper, Lauren Dimler & Landon Dimler; great grandchildren, Chelsea & Lukas Dimler; sister-in-law, Judy Klossner; brother-in-laws, Herman Stahl and Charles Koenig, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gertrude Klossner and her 7 siblings, John Klossner and his wife Mary Ann, Rose Koenig, Margaret and her husband John Foley, Lena and her husband Lowell” Butch” Torgerson, Dorothy and her husband Alvin Gross, Ernie Klossner and Amanda Stahl.

A celebration of life will be held from on Alice’s 86th Birthday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson.

A huge THANK YOU to the staff at Pine Haven Care Facility. They supported Alice through the pandemic, her mental health issues, and Alzheimer’s. They were patient and caring at every turn. A simple “Thank you” does not seem to be enough.

Alice had a lifelong struggle with mental health issues. Family would prefer memorials to the mental health agency of your choice, or to the family for a similar donation to the charity of their choosing.
