Jeanne Dunbar, 81, Kasson

Jeanne Dunbar, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Kasson on June 29, 2023.
Jeanne was born in 1941 to Waldo and Lavonia Peterson in St. Paul. She was one of seven children and part of a trio of oldest sisters. She attended Harding High school where she made lifelong friendships.
In 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Dunbar. Jeanne was a city girl at heart, but she didn’t stop Wayne from pursuing his true passion which was farming, and they settled on a hobby farm in Afton. There they raised three farm loving children! Jeanne helped tend the gardens; planting, canning and freezing fruits and vegetables like a true farm girl. Much to her displeasure she even chased down a few loose cows and horses a time or two!
Although they were not financially rich, they lavished love and support on friends and family. Jeanne and Wayne opened up their home and hearts to many kids along the way. Their home was always welcoming to guests and was the go-to for family gatherings. Home cooked meals and baked treats were the staple in Jeanne’s kitchen.
Jeanne was a loving wife, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Caring for her family was her highest calling and biggest joy. Her hands were rarely still—sewing, cooking and holding and loving on all the babies of the family. She and Wayne made time to make each of their grandkids feel special and important–attending all the big and little events as well as being their #1 cheerleaders.
Jeanne was an excellent seamstress and made everything from clothing to curtains to snowmobile suits. If it could be sewn, Jeanne could do it! Even up until the last weeks of her life she could be seen holding a seam ripper and a needle and thread.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Christine (Antonio) Nava of Palm Coast, Florida; her son Scott (Traci) Dunbar of Spanish Fort, Alabama and daughter Becky (David) Worstman of Mantorville. Her Grandchildren: Krista(Nick), Heidi(Kyle), Grace (Jacob), Jacob(Kathleen), Alison(Alex), Mariah, Noelle and Holly. Great-grandchildren: Arryonna, Jameson, Harper, A.J., Rowdy, Fitz, Walker and Baby Flora.
Jeanne’s faith in the Lord was a cornerstone of her life and she looked forward to meeting her Savior. She will be remembered and missed dearly by her loved ones.
