The Triton School Board and Triton Education Minnesota, the collective bargaining group that represents rank-and-file teachers, have agreed to a two-year deal.
“Given the financial situation that Triton Public Schools is currently in, we are fortunate to have had an overall pleasant experience during this cycle of negotiations,” TEM co-presidents Emily Fischenich and Alli Horejsi wrote in a statement. “Our staff overwhelmingly voted in favor of the proposed contract. We are thankful to work with a supportive administration and school board that values the hard work and dedication provided by our teaching staff.”
As part of the deal, there will be a 2% increase for salary lines in each of the two years, along with a $100-a-month increase for health insurance family plans in year two and $50-a-month increase for individual plans.
Overall, the cost increase will be $315,241 in year one and $286,135 in year two.
“I want to thank the Board of Education and the TEM Certified group for a respectful and productive negotiation session,” Superintendent Luke Lutterman wrote. “We truly appreciate this professional group, and it was wonderful to work together productively through negotiations. A special thank you to the negotiators for their patience, guidance, and professionalism as we work together to continue making Triton a great place to learn and work.”
