Many local National Night Out parties to choose from
Hot dogs. Fire trucks. And camaraderie.
That’s National Night Out, which is Aug. 6 and spans communities across the nation as city leaders build good will in a variety of ways with their town’s residents.
In Kasson, residents can call 507-634-3881 to register to have law enforcement officers drop by their house during National Night Out, said Paul Lindgren, investigator with the Kasson Police Department. Last year 10 residents signed up and this year, so far five have.
“This event is a great way to get to know the officers who are protecting them and serving them,” he said. “The gathering allows the community and law enforcement to get to know one another and build valuable relationships. It’s a way to interact in a positive manner.”
In West Concord from 6 to 9 p.m. at Memorial Park, there will be a bounce house, live music and food. They’ll also have games and open swim at the neighboring pool. About 100 people usually come to this gathering, where residents can meet local firemen, police officers and politicians.
