K-M officially begins search for new superintendent
The Kasson-Mantorville School Board has officially begun the process to hire a new superintendent beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
The board met last Friday to discuss the search timeline and procedures which are similar to those followed in 2023-2024, prior to the hiring of Supt. Ted Ihns, who will be leaving the position at the end of the current school year. Board members also agreed on a salary range of $160,000 to $180,000 for the position.
The Minnesota School Boards Association is handling the application process for the district. The position was posted Monday, and applications will be accepted through March 3. The applications will then be reviewed by the MSBA and recommendations made to the board as to candidates to interview. Board members will also have access to the applications and can add names to those being considered. The MSBA also will conduct the initial background checks of candidates.
The board has set March 17 as the date they will determine the applicants who will be invited to in-person interviews. The board anticipates holding the initial interviews over two days and then inviting finalists to a second round of interviews the following week. Between the two sets of interviews the board will conduct reference checks on the finalists. The second round of interviews and the selection of the lone finalist is planned for March 31.
After the lone finalist is chosen the contract negotiation process will begin. The board has scheduled April 7 as the date to approve the employment contract.
The new superintendent will begin his or her duties on July 1.
