K-M FFA celebrates Ag Day
Kasson-Mantorville FFA members took some time last week to thank supporters at the annual Ag Day dinner.
The event features a meal, silent auction and video displays of FFA activities. All money raised from the silent auction is donated to Dodge County Relay for Life.
Last year $3,500 was raised at the auction and FFA officers were hoping for a similar amount this year, according to President Ambra Andrist. Andrist and Secretary Ella Aarsvold were at the table at the entrance to greet those attending and pass out tickets to the dinner.
Among the chapter activities spotlighted were the election both Ella Aarsvold and Ambra Andrist as region officers and Ambra Andrist, Ella Aarsvold, Bode Fitch, Wyatt Sullivan and Diego Espinoza as State Degree applicants. Wyatt Sullivan was a state general livestock qualifier and Ambra Andrist placed second in Farm Bureau Discussion at the state convention.
Ella Aarsvold, Charlie Heser and Schuyler Sullivan all performed with the State Band. Ambra Andrist, Ella Aarsvold, Kari Sexton and Schuyler Sullivan all were in Region Proficiencies.
K-M ranked as the third overall team in the BIG (Best Informed Greenhand) competition and the Floriculture team placed third overall.
Business sponsors of the evening included Nothing Bundt Cakes, Kappers Big Red Barn, Hardware Hank, Stevens Truck Center, KM FFA Alumni, McKern Financial Group, Byron Dental Group, Sunshine Foods, Blondies Butcher Shop, Con-Tech Manufacturing, Ody’s Country Meats, Hyland Systems and Culvers.
Seniors among this year’s FFA members are Wyatt Sullivan, Diego Espinoza, Bode Fitch, Logan Narveson, Carley Greening and Lauryn O’Reilly.
The 2024-2025 Chapter Officers include President Ambra Andrist, Vice President Wyatt Sullivan, Reporter Schuyler Sullivan, Secretary Ella Aarsvold, Sentinel Diego Espinoza, Treasurer Bode Fitch, Officer at Large Charlie Heser and Historian Kari Sexton.
