Claremont picks new mayor
The city of Claremont finally has a mayor, months after the November election.
In November, voters elected write-in candidate Casey Striver, who defeated incumbent Tasha Dahl.
However, things became complicated, when it was determined that Striver didn’t meet residency requirements, according to the city attorney.
After the city council agreed with the assessment, it was decided to seek applicants for the position, instead of having a special election.
A total of six candidates applied, with Jared Sultze being appointed as mayor last week.
Attempts to reach Sultze for this story were unsuccessful.
Sultze was scheduled to be sworn in at the Tuesday night council meeting.
