STATE BOUND AGAIN
The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team is heading back to the state tournament. The KoMets advanced to state for the third straight year after claiming their third consecutive Section 1AA championship by defeating Stewartville and Lake City last week.
Despite the long-term accomplishment of reaching state three years in a row, this team has focused on a one match at a time mentality that helped them push through and maintain a 23-match winning streak,
“Every year is a new season with a new team,” K-M head coach Adam VanOort explained. “What happened in the past really isn’t what we’re focused on. Right now, it’s just about what this team is doing and what we can do to continue to improve, but we are definitely excited to go to state and are looking forward to some great battles up there.”
To get to the state tournament, the KoMets were able to dispatch of #2AA Stewartville and Lake City to conquer Section 1AA for the third straight year. As a team that has been ranked in either first or second for the entire season, K-M was rewarded with the top seed in this weekend’s state tournament.
The KoMets will open their state run by hosting St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. For more on the KoMets run to the state tournament, see Page C1.
