HAYFIELD — The Lady Vikings brought out the big bats on Monday, May 22, at home. It was the Section 1A First Round playoff game, and the Hayfield girls stunned Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 11-1.
Hayfield: Melody Walker, 1 for 3, run scored; Betsy Gillete, 2 for 3, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI; Natalie Beaver, 1 for 3, run scored; Maggie Hansen, 1 for 3, RBI; Reese Bauman, 1 for 3, RBI; McKenna Selk, 2 for 4, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI; Jo Tempel, 0 for 4; Taylor Dick, 1 for 4, run scored, RBI; Alexys Swygman, 1 for 2, 4 RBI; Kenna Rutledge, 0 for 0, 3 runs scored. Softball Bears edge Panthers

ROCHESTER — Byron’s Macy Borowski won a pitcher’s duel with Century’s Morgan Erickson, as the Bears squeezed-out a 1-0 non-conference win on Monday, May 15. Borowski worked all seven innings and tossed a two-hitter, with 16 strikeouts and two walks. Morgan was also great, allowing just three hits over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking just one. Lindsey Schultz and Talli Behrens each had a hit for Byron, while Tegan Carroll and Kennedy Stewart each had one for Century.

K-M girls blanked by Huskies

The Kasson-Mantorville softball team was beaten by the Owatonna Huskies, 7-0, on Monday, May 15.

Kasson-Mantorville: Ella Babcock, 1 for 2, 2B; Becca Burch, 2 for 3; Calleigh Richards, 2 for 2, 2B; Aubrey Abbott, 1 for 3. Pitchers: Ella Babcock (LP) 6 IP, 12 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 7 K.

Owatonna: Paiton Glynn, 2 for 3, run scored; Danika Ringhofer, 3 for 3, RBI, 2 runs scored; Kendra Bogen, 1 for 4, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored; Zoie Roush, 2 for 4, 2 RBI; Mehsa Krause, 1 for 3, RBI, 1 R. Pitchers: Kennedy Hodgman (WP) 7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K. Kasson drops to 8-4 overall and Owatonna improves to 12-4.

Triton softballers play in tourney

The Triton softball team competed in a tournament at the Rochester Softball Complex on Monday, May 15.

(4 p.m.) Triton lost their first game to Cannon Falls, 13-1.

Triton: Gigi Lundi, 1 for 2, RBI; Liz Hukee, 1 for 2; Lexi Clement, 1 for 2.

(6 p.m.) Game two for the Cobras was a battle with Lourdes. The Eagles emerged victorious in this one, by a 15-4 final tally.
