Rochester Century no match for K-M volleyball
The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team kept their momentum from last year’s state tournament run going as they beat Rochester Century 3-0 on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Head Coach Adam VanOort said his team’s success came from its serving and passing prowess.
“I thought we served and passed pretty well,” he said.
While the KoMets victory over Century was convincing, he said there’s still plenty of things that Kasson-Mantorville can work on.
“We can improve significantly in every area, but one specific thing that we talked about after that match was that we wanted to work hard to continue to improve our connections between setters and middle blockers,” he said.
VanOort said there were a few girls that really stood out to him.
“Maddy Cummings, Mya Suess, Emilee Terry, and Addy Bzoskie all attacked very well. Olivia Matuska had a good game at libero,” he said. “Anna Braun was very productive from the setting position with about half of her set attempts resulting in kills. Cate Wanous and Olyvia Thoen both served very well for us.”
The KoMets next home game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, against Kenyon-Wanamingo.
