KoMets softball team sparkles in opener

The Kasson-Mantorville softball girls looked sharp in their season opener on Thursday, March 30, topping Goodhue Wildcats, 9-2. It also didn’t hurt any to play the game in the dry, warm confounds of the Dundas Dome. KoMets hurler Ella Babcock was supreme on the hill, as she fired a seven-inning 2-hit gem; and amassed 18 strikeouts in the sensational effort.
Babcock and Calleigh Richards will be players to watch this season. Both players were named to Breakdown USA’s top pre-season Minnesota softball players. Richards was one of the Top 75 Seniors in the state; Babcock was one of the 100 Super Seniors.
