K-M girls battle Lourdes once more

Tuesday night, Sept. 22, K-M girls soccer visited Rochester Lourdes for another battle.

“We played aggressively and worked together. Everyone played really well from starters to bench players coming in. Everyone contributed,” said #1 Maclyn Smith. “It was a great game and we improved a lot since last week when we lost 3-0.”

Unfortunately though for K-M, they lost 1-0 on THE Eagles home turf. However, they were fueling off of the energy from their previous game on Friday night against Triton where they had an epic victory 9-0.

They were warmed up and ready for this game against Lourdes. KoMet #6, Addie Evans noted “Overall the game was pretty even, we had some scoring opportunities but just couldn’t find the back of the net.” During the first half is when the Eagles struck and made their goal off of a rebound.

KoMet #5 Elle Hager commented “It was a great game that could have gone either way. We just couldn’t seem to capitalize on any of the chances we had.” The KoMets played very well against Lourdes, who is ranked #9 in the state and one of the best teams in South Eastern Minnesota so to go from the loss last time with 3-0 and then to come back only one week later and make progress with only a 1-0 loss this time is pretty outstanding for the K-M KoMets.

Their upcoming games were against the Byron Bears on the Bears home turf Sept. 29, PEM Bulldogs on KoMets home turf Oct. 5 and their homecoming game against Stewartville on KoMets turf on Oct. 9.
