Boys' basketball

Hayfield boys’ basketball team notched two more victories last week. On Tuesday, February 7, the Vikings overwhelmed Kenyon-Wanamingo, 77-58. Closing the week in style, Hayfield defeated Rushford-Peterson, 45-30.

Notes: Hayfield senior Isaac Matti scored his 2,000th career point on a 2nd half lay-up, becoming the second player in school history (2005 grad David Johnson had 2,468) to achieve the milestone. Hayfield is now 18-4, 12-2 in the Gopher Conference.

Bears basketball boys go 2-1

The Byron boys’ basketball team had a fruitful week recently. On Monday, February 6, the boys fell to a formidable South St Paul squad, 88-60. Tuesday, the Bears rebounded and defeated St. Peter, 86-58. Friday saw the Byron boys dominate Rochester Lourdes, 67-46.

The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team had a tough week recently. On Tuesday, February 7, they lost to Cannon Falls, 52-42, and on Thursday, February 9, the KoMets fell to Red Wing, 44-38.

Triton boys

The Triton Cobras won one and lost two recently. On Monday, February 6, Triton defeated Dover-Eyota, 69-54. Tuesday’s action resulted in a Cobras loss to Faribault Bethlehem Academy, 72-58. Wrapping up the week on Friday, Maple River overwhelmed the Triton boys, 74-32.
