Baseball Bears enjoy winning week

Byron’s baseball team collected a pair of wins last week. On Wednesday, May 10, the guys took down Rochester John Marshall, 11-3, and on Thursday, the Bears bested Goodhue, 6-2. JM Game: John Marshall and Byron were tied 2-2, until the Bears erupted for five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth. Byron scored 11 runs on 12 hits in the game, led by Owen Jefferson-Kroc, who was 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Jake Coshenet was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Spencer Nierman was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

Vikings win
RP tournament

The Hayfield baseball team played in the Rushford-Peterson tournament on Saturday, May 13. It was a gray and drizzly day, but the Vikings were sharp as ever. They defeated Rushford-Peterson, 2-1, in the first round. That earned them the right to face a good Goodhue team in the championship game. The Hayfield boys topped the Wildcats, 6-3, to claim the tournament title.

The Kasson-Mantorville baseball team defeated Winona on Thursday, May 11, by a 6-1 final tally. Spencer Anderson got the win for the KoMets. Anderson allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out three. Noah Swarts threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Grady Babcock, Bennett Brown, and Justin Craft, each had multiple hits for K-M.
