Kasson library puts restored Ford Model A to use in area parades
A 1930 Ford Model A Town Sedan dubbed “Rosie” is ironically covered in silk roses for three area parades in the name of the Kasson Public Library.
Thanks to owner Don Hower of Kasson, the car was a parade unit for Good Neighbor Days in Byron on July 21, and will be in Festival in the Park in Kasson on Aug. 11 and Marigold Days in Mantorville on Sept. 8, said Nancy Hackenmiller, library assistant for the Kasson Public Library.
“It certainly draws comment,” she said of the adorned Model A. “People can’t help but notice the car because it’s so beautifully decorated. It’s extremely noticeable.”
Library staff and patrons walk alongside Hower’s Model A and handed out bookmarks honoring the library’s 125th anniversary, which is this year. Hackenmiller said several thousand bookmarks were made. Library patrons are welcome to join in the upcoming parades, she said.
