Cheryll Eggert named W.C. Citizen of the Year

Cheryll Eggert was named West Concord’s Citizen of the Year last Friday night during a Survival Days program. At the same program, the Mayor’s Key to the City was presented to Jake Bucher.

In making the announcement, Mayor Jeffrey McCool said that Eggert, a life-long resident of the West Concord area, has participated in many areas of community life, often hidden.

He said she has a positive can-do attitude and helps the community whenever asked.

She has been active in the West Concord Historical Society and was one of the first founding board members. She started the Christmas craft sale as a fundraiser for the building and it continues to this day, he said.

She also was very involved in the library renovations and is a member of the Cardinal Club. She also has assisted with decorating and helping with various fundraisers for parks, recreation, education and the Bell Tower.

Her contributions are often unknown to the public, McCool said, because she prefers to work behind the scenes.
