Byron food pantry, closet help local families

Volunteers from the Byron Food Pantry and Community Closet were on hand at last Saturday’s Good Neighbor Days to inform residents about the project.

The Food Pantry and Community Closet are operated by Community Education with a goal of seeing that all families have what they need, volunteers said. Both are located at the Byron Community Education Center.

According to the Community Education website the “goal is to partner with community organizations and individuals to serve Byron neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity and economic challenges.” The Community Closet is stocked with essential household supplies and personal care products and available to Food Pantry shoppers.

Individuals who would like to donate items may drop them off in the lobby at the Community Education Center from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
