Dodge County Stroll August 4 at fairgrounds

It’s the 31st annual Dodge County Stroll, the local Relay for Life event, and it is happening Friday, August 4, at the Dodge County fairgrounds.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life movement is the world’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event dedicated to savings lives from cancer. Funds raised through Relay for Life directly support cancer research, 24/7 support for cancer patients, access to lifesaving screenings, and more.

This year’s local event begins at 4:30 p.m. with the Survivor’s Reception, an invitation-only event for the cancer survivors. This year’s entertainment at the reception is by Cabin Fever.

The Silent Auction opens at 5 p.m. and will continue to 10 p.m. The auction will be closed during the opening and luminary ceremonies.

The survivor and team laps around the fairgrounds will begin at 6 p.m.

Honorary chairperson/survivor Keegan Bronson from Hayfield will be at the opening ceremony and will be sharing his story prior to the luminary ceremony.

Soma Unwind (Hannah Brown) Massages will be on site from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The luminary ceremony, which includes the lighting of the luminaries, the lighting of the HOPE sign and the procession led by bagpipers will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Throughout the evening, until 10 p.m., there will be a variety of activities.

Teams will be selling food and other items to raise funds from 6 to 10 p.m. For the youngsters, there will be lawnmower kiddie train rides. There will also be Big Chair pictures, and a scavenger hunt. Details of the Scavenger Hunt will be available at the event and a phone is needed to participate.

The evening entertainment on the stage for this year will be 6 Mile Grove, sponsored by NextEra Energy Resources.
