Triton play combines mystery, comedy

It’s 1936 and William Gillette, a Broadway actor known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, has invited friends to his mansion on Christmas Eve as he recovers from a gunshot wound fired by an unknown assailant. But when a guest is murdered Gillette reverts to his Holmes persona to find the murderer.

Featuring both comedy and mystery, Ken Ludwig’s The Games Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays is the fall production at Triton High School.

The play will be performed Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5, 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Triton High School.

It’s a new play, first performed in 2011, said Assistant Director Vicki Reiser. It also features the most elaborate set for a Triton play.

Cast includes Charles Groll as William Gillette, Kyrielle Peterson as Martha Gillette, Rhylan Peterson as Felix Geisel, Jacelyn Schley as Madge Geisel, Samuel Finne as Simon Bright, Kiana Komastsu as Aggie Wheeler, Sepharah Bond as Inspector Goring and Emmily Wilson as Daria Chase.

Noah Woxland is the radio broadbaster and Maddie Boe, Morgan Franko, Audrey Horkey, Mariah Lang, Katie Scherger, Coltan Smisek, Cassidy Streiff and Hunter Welch are radio singers.

The stage crew includes Sepharah Bond, Michelle Brannick, Rene Cortz, Natalie Donner, Sam Finne, Charles Groll, Hannah Henrichs, Matt Hoberg, Johnathon Jaeger, Connor Kelley, Kiana Komatsu, Mason Koehler, Grace Lumsden, Larrisa Lumsden, Todd Nuss, Kyrielle Peterson, Leah Pflaum, Kylie Robinson, Taylor Schandorff, Katie Scherger, Jacelyn Schley, Coltan Smisek, Kaleb Strom, Desirae Tangen, Evelyn Terpstra, Hunter Welch and Emmily Wilson.

Director is John Schreiber. Vicki Reiser is assistant director and Taylor Schandorff the stage manager.
