One killed in head-on crash in Dodge County
A Rochester woman is dead after a head- on collision Monday afternoon in Dodge County.
Laura Wittwer, 46, of Rochester, was killed after driving her 2006 Ford Mustang over the centerline and striking a 2019 Toyota Tundra driven by Amanda Voca of Dodge Center.
The crash hap- pened about 2:15 p.m. on Dodge Coun- ty Road 34, east of County Road 9 North, between Dodge Cen- ter and Kasson.
A witness told law enforcement that an eastbound Mustang was traveling down the middle of the road, over the center line, forcing them to swerve to avoid a collision.
A westbound Tun- dra pickup traveling behind the witness vehicle was not able to avoid the Mustang, the report says.
Wittwer was pro- nounced dead at the scene.
Passengers inside Voca's Tundra pickup truck included a 34-year-old Dodge Center woman and a 2-year-old boy.
All three were out of the vehicle by the time first responders arrived. They were taken by Dodge Center Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospi- tal-Saint Marys Cam- pus for treatment of what were described as minor to moderate injuries.
Also responding to the scene were crews from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Dodge Center Fire Department,
the Olmsted County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Min- nesota State Patrol, which assisted with crash reconstruction.
The road was closed until about 4:20 p.m., prompting local school districts to reroute buses to avoid the scene.
