Fire damages Johnson Hardware in Dodge Center

A Wednesday night fire at Johnson Hardware in Dodge Center caused extensive damage to the building.

Dodge Center Fire Department was called to the location about 7 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from the building, Fire Chief Jeremy Dostal said.

When fire crews arrived they found that the fire was starting to come through the roof. They were able to contain the fire to the shop area and the attic above the shop, Dostal said, although there was smoke damage throughout the building.

Fire Departments from Kasson and Claremont also responded to the fire and the Dodge Center Ambulance was also on standby at the scene.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, he said.
