Sheriff: Man assaulted with bat and gun
A violent assault against a man in Dodge Center has led to two people being charged and the recovery of a large amount of stolen property from several burglaries around the area. Meanwhile, police are still looking for a third suspect.
Shawn Eric Clement, 30, and Tracy Michelle Brown, 25, have been charged in connection with the incident on Sept. 7 in Dodge Center. Clement faces first-degree aggravated robbery, fifth-degree controlled substances, felon in possession of firearms and receiving stolen property. Brown has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm and fifth-degree controlled substances.
Both are being held in the Steele County Jail. The judge has ordered $200,000 unconditional bail and $100,000 conditional for Clement and $40,000 unconditional and $20,000 conditional for Brown.
Investigators are still looking for a third suspect that is believed to have used a bat during the assault.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in Dodge Center around 3:50 a.m. for an assault that had taken place at another location in the 100 block of 4th Avenue NE. Officers found Robert Cremeans, 37, with multiple lacerations and injuries. He told police he had been robbed at gunpoint, pistol-whipped and assaulted with a bat.
Dodge Center Ambulance transported Cremeans to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. He is expected to make a full recovery, according to Sheriff Scott Rose.
