We voted, look who’s in charge now!

The election is over, at least that is my assumption. The deadline for writing this article was before the election counting process has been completed. However, although I am writing this article before the counting and court cases have been concluded, I can tell you who is going to be in charge. And it is not because I am psychic or prophetic, but because I know the One in charge will remain the same. It is called the Sovereignty of God.

The prophet Isaiah says of the Lord, “… You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.” (Isaiah 37:16). There will always be a tension between the two truths, one being that God is Sovereign and determines the course of events in this world, and the other that He has given humankind a free will to make choices about their future.

In this nation, we exercise the freedom of a democracy to choose who will lead us, sometimes to our own detriment, as we vote into place godless leaders who do detestable things. (I just realized that no matter who won the election, I have about 50% of the readers agreeing with me that we have just done that). But even when we have exercised our will, and the Lord allows us to experience the consequences of our choices, yet He, through Jesus, has taught us to pray, Thy will (God’s) be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.

As you read through the Bible, you will see the hand of God involved in the rise and fall of kingdoms and their rulers. But you will also see that there is one kingdom that will not be shaken, and that is the kingdom of God. (Hebrews 12:28). And there will come a time when, as it says in Revelation 11:15, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

So, no matter who has won the election, remember that Sovereign God is still on the throne and we can rejoice and be glad in that. Let us continue to pray, “Thy will be done, on earth, in the USA, as it is in heaven, for “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12

I would like to add a big shout out to our Veterans as we celebrate this Veterans Day. We thank you for your sacrifice to protect our God-given freedom and our hard-fought national and constitutional freedom. May you be blessed by God. And may God Bless America!
