Social atmosphere must change, all lives do matter

This Twilight Zone social atmosphere raging in the U.S. is lunacy. Locally, there have been manifestations of conflict between support for law enforcement and Black Lives Matter (BLM). Why?

Is it wrong to support our local law enforcement agencies? Does supporting police, sheriff and Minnesota Highway Patrol mean one does not also support men and women of varied skin pigmentation?

The logical answer is no.

An unsigned letter to the editor last week called out the supporters of law enforcement that was published in this newspaper a few weeks ago. The letter writer assumed, that by supporting law enforcement we, and the businesses that state their support for the cops, were, somehow, against people of color, specifically black lives. I fail to see the connection between the two.

Another reader called to ask how he could get involved to support our law enforcement agencies. That is easy – thank them when it’s appropriate and let them know by waving as they pass, sending letters of appreciation and stop by the cop shop just to say thanks.

It is a huge assumptive leap in logic to say that because we support law enforcement that we must oppose people of color. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.

African-Americans, Native American Indians, Chinese, Danes, Swedes and every ethnic group that makes up this great nation are important and matter to our country. However, it’s become toxic to say out loud that all lives matter. In fact, they do all matter.

I support life, born and unborn.

I support every American regardless of race, color or any other qualifier that we’ve been brainwashed to subscribe to for accommodation of political correctness.

Having grown up on the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation in Cloquet, I learned at an early age that the color of skin is irrelevant. Most of my friends were Chippewa. They were kids just like me. They liked to play baseball, fish in Otter Creek and have fun, just like me. We’d build forts in the woods. We’d sit around listening to the elders talk about how we needed to respect the Earth. We watched them make things from birch trees and we grew in together in knowledge from nature’s bounty.

Many claim that BLM (the national organization that has high-jacked the killing of George Floyd for their extremist agenda) is just a benign apolitical organization. It is not. BLM’s charter is grounded in anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism and Marxism.

Bottom line: All lives do matter – Black, American (indigenous) Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Caucasian, and every other pigmentation that God has created. To hate any one of those races is moronic. To hate any man, woman or child because of his or her skin color is the ultimate stupidity.
