Michael Steven Rud, 68, Kasson

Michael “Mike” Steven Rud, 68, of Kasson, passed away peacefully in his home on May 6, 2021.  He was born March 6, 1953 to Herbert Allen Rud and Faye Amelia (Buttolph) Rud in Owatonna. 

Mike attended Golden Valley Lutheran College in Golden Valley. He married Janet Elaine Musante on July 31, 1982, and they were together until her death in 1997. 

Mike was a machinist at Crenlo and worked for AMPI later in life. 

He was passionate about sports from a young age. He played football, basketball, and baseball in high school and continued his passion on many leagues as an adult. As an older adult, he played on several senior softball teams in Rochester and Roseville. He also refereed high school basketball.  He enjoyed fishing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. 

He was devoted in his faithfulness to God and the Christian religion. Mike was always quick with a joke or a good story and could strike up conversation with anyone.

Mike is survived by his mother, Faye Rud of St Cloud, Fla.; daughters, Jennifer Lee Dugan and husband, Alex, of Rochester and Ali Marie Lueck and husband, Aaron, of Big Bend, WI.; five grandchildren: Marissa, Audrey, Evey, Miles, and Hudson; brothers, Jeff Rud and wife, Audrey, of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Brian Rud and wife, Olga of St. Cloud, Fla.; nephews, Sean Rud and wife, Ashley of Sioux Falls, S.D., Aaron Rud of Sioux Falls, S.D., Michael Rud of St. Cloud, Fla.; and niece, Michelle Rud of St. Cloud, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Rud and wife, Janet Rud. 

The family expresses extreme gratitude to the staff at South Central Human Relations Center ACT team and Family Partners for the support they provided to Mike.

The visitation with the family will be at 10 a.m. with service to follow  at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8^th Ave NW, Kasson.  Arrangements are being handled by Dibble Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Kasson.
