Cori Hegleson-Selman, 49, Peoria, Illinois

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our daughter, Cori Hegleson-Selman, 49. She passed away on Dec. 16, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Ill. Her husband, Blair, was at her side.
Cori was born in Seoul, Korea, and was adopted by her parents, Paul and Pam Helgeson of Kasson. Cori grew up in Dawson, Minn., and attended school there from k-12.

She was active in school and was a violinist and clarinetist. Her musical taste ran the gamut from classical to our dismay, country western. She was an energetic cheerleader for basketball and football and supported the Dawson-Boyd Blackjack teams all her life. She was an honor student, graduating in 1990.

Cori went on to college at South Dakota State University in Brookings and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was active in college serving on the Senate and was a Stater for State.
Cori spent 21 years working in the Liver Transplant ICU at Mayo in Rochester. She often said it was her “dream job.” She was devoted to her patients and loved her co-workers. She served as a preceptor for many nurses.
Cori loved all sports, except golf! She followed NASCAR and her favorite college team was Michigan. She loved to read, especially legal thrillers. Her favorite movie was Red Dawn, but after her daughter, Lily, was born in 2011, the two of them watched The Sound of Music and Mama Mia together many ,many times.
Cori leaves behind her husband, Blair, daughter, Lily, her parents, Pam and Paul, stepchildren, Haley and Bryce, and grandson, Wyatt, and mother-in-law, Connie. She also leaves behind Aunt Sue, Aunt Hilde, Uncle Roger, and the best cousins ever...Doug, Heidi, Ross, Laura and their families, and special friend, Shelly.
With respect to Cori’s medical background and her wish for good health for all of us, there will not be a service until the risk of COVID is over. In accordance with her wishes, she will rest beside her beloved Grandma Helen in Porter, Minn.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Cori, please consider The Gift of Life House in Rochester.  (gift-of-life.org)
Cori, as your loving parents, we  will keep you in our hearts for as long as we live. And yes, we will watch over our darling Lily and tell her how much you love her and how very sad you were to leave.
Fly high, Cori!  Fly high!
Love, Mom and Dad
