KoMets Kyler Kujath takes a rip at a pitch in Monday’s game against Goodhue.

KM extends winning streak to 3 games

Kasson-Mantorville’s KoMets extended their win streak to three games Monday night when they faced the Goodhue Wildcats.

They went 2-1 in the weekend Dick Traen Memorial Wood Bat Classic in Delano. In three games they defeated the Concordia Academy Beacons and Rockford Rockets while losing to the Mound Westonka White Hawks.

In earlier games last week they lost to the Pine Island Panthers and the Byron Bears.

Kasson-Mantorville vs. Goodhue Wildcats

Kellen Wilke pitched a fantastic game leading the KoMets to a 3-0 victory. The KoMets got the offense going right out of the gates in the first inning when Corbin Horning doubled to right field and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Landon Wenzel.

KoMets added on again in the second when Dalton Maxwell singled and scored on a double by Brooks Buchanan. The KoMets couldn't push anything across in the third but responded with another run in the fourth when Wilke reached on a single and later scored on ground out by Chase Splittstoesser. The 3-0 lead was enough for Wilke as he tossed seven shutout innings to bring home the win.

The White Hawks added on two more in the top of the fifth on a bunt single and an error. Another insurance run was brought in during the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-0 lead.

KoMets slowly started to grab some momentum as Brooks Buchanan was hit by a pitch and stole second on the next pitch. He later advanced to third on a wild pitch and was brought home on a RBI groundout by Corbin Horning. Sean Inman later singled but was left stranded.
