Byron softball girls sail through semis

Byron’s Lady Bears eliminated a good Kasson-Mantorville team from the Section 1AAA Tournament on Thursday, May 26, by a 4-1 final tally in the semi-final round at Austin’s Todd Park.

The Byron softball girls battled a formidable Austin team in the Section 1AAA Tournament opener on Tuesday, May 24, at Byron. But when the dust settled and the final out was recorded, it was the Bears who emerged victorious, 10-9.

K-M GIRLS TAKEDOWN TIGERS

Kasson-Mantorville’s softball team defeated Stewartville, 6-1, on Thursday, May 26, in the Section 1AAA Elimination Quarterfinals at Austin’s Todd Park.

The KoMets pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning; on a Grover RBI single, and a 2-RBI rap by Maxson. Lady KoMets’ Ella Babcock was the winning pitcher. She allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Tressa Smith took the loss for the Tigers, surrendering six runs and eight hits over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
