Byron, Hayfield advance in baseball playoffs

It was a good battle on Saturday, May 28, between the Byron baseball team and the Austin Packers. The hits were all square at seven apiece, but the Bears emerged with a 4-3 victory in the Section 1AAA First Round Tournament.

Kasson-Mantorville’s baseball team lost to Red Wing, 4-2, in the Section 1AAA opening round at Athletic Field, on Saturday, May 28. They then played at Faribault High School, vs the Falcons, in Section 1AAA Elimination Bracket First Round action, on Tuesday, May 31 (stats were unavailable at press time).

BASEBALL VIKINGS GET THROUGH SEMIS

Hayfield’s baseball team is still winning. On Monday, May 30, the Vikings advanced to the Section 1A winner bracket final, following a 2-0 defeat of Kenyon-Wanamingo, in semifinal action.
