Byron gymnasts beat PIZM

Byron’s girls gymnastics team stayed undefeated with their win over PIZM on Friday, December 9.

The Byron girls finished with 135.55 points to PIZM’s 129.435 points. They swept the top four spots in the All-Around, with Amber Roble taking first, accumulating 34.575 points. Lydia Evans finished close behind in second with a score of 34.45. Sophia Mullenbach and Ella Ott finished third and fourth with point totals of 33.15 and 32.5.

The girls had a solid night on vault, with Amber Roble and Lydia Evans finishing tied for first, with scores of 9.05. Ella Ott finished fourth, with a nice vault, scoring an 8.6, and Ava Mertesdorf finished close behind in fifth, with a score of 8.575.

On bars the girls swept the top three places with Lydia Evans taking first with a score of 8.25. Amber Roble was close behind in second, with a score of 8.2, and Ella Ott finished third with a score of 7.95. Jocie Halfman rounded out the top four for the team, finishing sixth with a score of 7.55.

On beam, Amber Roble and Sophia Mullenbach led the way. Amber finished first with a score of 9.225 and Sophia Mullenbach finished second with a 9.1. Ella Ott finished sixth with a score of 7.8 and Lydia Evans was close behind with a score of 7.75, to round out the top for scores for the team.

The girls rounded out the night on the floor, with Lydia Evans setting a new PR and finishing first, with a score of 9.4. Savannah Byron also set a new PR on floor, with a score of 8.55 and finished fourth. Sophia Mullenbach finished sixth with a score of 8.35 and Ella Ott finished seventh with a score of 8.15. The girls are back home on Thursday, December 15, against Stewartville.
