Byron girls track Conference Champs!!!

Byron’s girls track team reached one of their teams goals this season and that was winning the conference championship. The girls have held the title of conference champions for the past decade. 

The girls were challenged by a very good Stewartville team, but in the end the girls finished with 197.5 points to Stewartville’s 169.25 points. The girls were led by Seniors Katie Lambrecht and Emma Johnson. Katie finished as the conference champion in four events (100, 200, 400 and long jump) and Emma finished as the conference champion in two events (100 hurdles and pole vault).  But in the end it was a team effort. The top nine finishers scored points and each event had up to 30 participants.

The girls had a really strong day on the track with the following girls finishing in the top 9:

100 Dash: Katie Lambrecht – 1st (12.68) PR / Olivia Amundson – 5th (13.15)

200 Dash: Katie Lambrecht – 1st (26.38) / Olivia Amundson – 2nd (27.33)

400 Dash: Katie Lambrect – 1st (59.34) / Paige Halder – 3rd (62.0) / Carley Halder – 9th (66.63)

800 Run: Michaela Hamilton – 7th (2:36.71)

1600 Run: Payton Satzke – 5th (5:36.58) PR

3200 Run: Taylor Matter – 3rd (13:07.14) / Cambelle Johnson – 7th (14:16.49)

100 Hurdles: Emma Johnson – 1st (16.77) / Taylor Dean – 5th (17.7) / Rachel Fode – 9th (18.38) PR

300 Hurdles: Clara Hoegh – 5th (52.28) PR / Lexi Nelson – 6th (52.7) / Hannah Seidel – 9th (55.39)

4x100 Relay: Taylor Dean, Emma Johnson, Olivia Amundson, Sophia Mullenbach – 4th (52.48)

4x200 Relay: Carley Halder, Taylor Dean, Emma Johnson, Paige Halder – 3rd (1:52.79)

4x400 Relay: Paige Halder, Carley Halder, Clara Hoegh, Micheala Hamilton – 2nd (4:20.43)

4x800 Relay: Michaela Hamilton, Bethany Basile, Payton Satzke, Taylor Matter – 3rd (10:39.41)

In the field events the girls held their own as well.

High Jump: Olivia Gartner – 5th (4’8)

Pole Vault: Emma Johnson – 1st (9’6) / Brooke Kovash – 8th (8’)

Long Jump: Katie Lambrecht – 1st (16’6.5”) / Trista Dean – 8th (14’7.5”) / Ella Rodemeyer – 9th (14’4”)

Triple Jump: Lexi Nelson – 8th (31’2)

Shot Put: Megan Gallagher – 2nd (31’10.75”) / Madi Hamilton – 4th (28’6.25”) PR / Rylie Olive – 9th (26’7”)

Discus: Megan Gallagher – 4th (90’5)
