Byron’s girls track team picks up where they left off

Byron’s Girls Track Team started the season off on April 8 looking just as strong as they did since their last meet a year and a half ago. The girls outscored their opponents by almost 100 points.  The girls finished with 122 points to Pine Islands 36 and Kasson-Mantorville’s 28. The girls took first in 16 of the 18 events and several girls finished in the top four scoring points.

In the sprints, the girls had a very solid showing with many girls finishing in the top four. 

100 dash: Sophia Mullenbach finished third with a time 14.92. 

200 dash: Katie Lambrecht took first place finish in a time of 26.2. Ella Rodemeyer and Clara Braun finished third and fourth with times of 30.14 and 31.85.

400 dash: Katie Lambrect took first once again with a time of 60.96. Clara Hoegh took second in a time of 1:06.6 and Lexi Nelson finished third in a time of 1:10. Marina Leigh made it a perfect sweep of the top four places with her time of 1:11.5.

In the longer races the girls looked equally as strong with two girls placing in the point in every race.

800 run: Bethany Basile took the top spot with a time of 2:51.5 and Taylor Seeger finished close behind in second with a time of 2:51.6.

1600 run: Payton Satzke finished first with a time of 6:26 and teammate Cambelle Johnson finished third in a time of 6:49.

3200 run: Taylor Matter picked up her first varsity win taking first in a time of 13:23. Lindsey Dickison finished fourth for the team in a time of 15:47.

The hurdlers did very well taking five of the eight possible places.

100 hurdles: Seniors Taylor Dean and Emma Johnson led the way taking the top two places.  Taylor finished with a time of 18.03 and Emma finished in a time of 18.17. Rachel Fode picked up a fourth place finish in a time of 19.15.

300 hurdles: Senior Hannah Coleman led the way taking first in a time of 55.74. Hannah Seidel ran well picking up a fourth place finish in a time of 57.71.

All four relays took the top spot.

4x100: Taylor Dean, Emma Johnson, Sophia Mullenbach, Olivia Amundson – 55.41

4x200: Katie Lambrecht, Olivia Amundson, Clara Hoegh, Hannah Coleman – 1:53.55

4x400: Olivia Amundson, Abby Basile, Bethany Basile, Clara Hoegh – 4:35.0

4x800: Taylor Matter, Abby Basile, Payton Satzke, Cambelle Johnson – 11:05.2

In the field events the girls showed no let down.

High Jump: Sarah Ayen took first with a height of 4’8. Bethany Basile and Isabelle Erickson took second and third with a height of 4’6.

Pole Vault: Emma Johnson took first with a height of 9’6 and Brooke Kovash finished third with a height of 7’0.

Long Jump: Ella Rodemeyer finished third with a jump of 14’6 and Abby Basile finished fourth with a jump of 13’10.

Triple Jump: Clara Braun had a new PR of 33’2 landing her in first place.  Lexi Nelson also had a PR jump going 32’5 and finished second.

Shot Put:  Megan Gallagher took first with a throw of 31’8 and teammate Rylie Olive finished second with a throw of 27’10.  Kacey Falcon helped the team out with a fourth place finish with a throw of 25’10.

Discus: Megan Gallagher picked up another first with her throw of 91’4.  Kacey Falcon backed that up with a second place finish throwing 74’3 and Julie Covleski took fourth with a throw of 69’2.

The girls will next be in action on April 29.
