HAYFIELD — Residing atop the Gopher East Conference at 22-6, the Hayfield boys basketball team dashed through the Section 1A second round on Thursday, March 2, defeating Wabasha-Kellogg, 58-39. The Vikings were scheduled to take on the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights Tuesday night at the Mayo Civic Center in the quarterfinal round.

K-M wins 1 loses 1 as regular season ends
The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team completed regular season play last week. On Tuesday, February 28, the K-M kids fell to Stewartville, 62-51. Friday, March 3, saw the KoMets’ Ethan Lee, pour-in 40 points, and lead K-M to a convincing 72-49 victory over Worthington, effectively spoiling the Trojan’s senior night.

Worthington Game: In a game with no implications on section tournament seeding, the Worthington Trojans boys basketball team was caught flat-footed in a 72-49 loss to Kasson-Mantorville on Friday night. The KoMets went on an 8-0 scoring run and took their first lead of the half, on an Ethan Lee 3-pointer. Lee returned with another dagger 3-pointer to move the needle back to KM, 27-25, on the next possession. Finishing with 40 points on the night, Lee made nine treys, and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Freshman Grady Babcock scored 13 points for KM, with three treys, and senior Jake Hallstrom had eight. Triton boys out of playoffs
The Triton basketball boys finished their season last week. On Thursday, March 2, the Cobras fell to Zumbrota-Mazeppa, 61-57, in Section 1AA first round action at Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School.
