Hayfield boys win the weekend
The Vikings looked good on the hardcourt last week. On Friday, Hayfield defeated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, 73-55. Saturday’s action saw the Vikings overwhelm Springfield, 83-53.

Isaac Matti goes for 50
The Hayfield basketball boys had an exciting beginning to a four-game week on the hardcourt. On Monday, January 23, the Vikings edged-out United South Central, 57-55. Tuesday’s action saw the Hayfield boys dominate Blooming Prairie, 76-50, behind a 50-point offensive performance by phenom Isaac Matti.

Hayfield had a 48-37 lead with six minutes left, but USC went on an 8-0 run and eventually cut the lead to 50-49. Isaac Matti had a huge three-point play with 37 seconds left to help seal the win for the Vikings.

Byron boys endure
tough week
It was a bumpy start and a much better finish to the week, despite the loss, for the Byron boys’ basketball team. On Tuesday, January 24, the Bears lost to Stewartville, 77-36. And on Thursday, the Byron boys played a great game against a pretty good Zumbrota-Mazeppa team. It was a back-and-forth battle, but the Cougars emerged the victors, 83-82.

K-M bucket boys split
the week
The Kasson-Mantorville basketball boys battled No. 1 ranked and undefeated Lake City on Tuesday, January 24. It was all Tigers in this one, and they claimed the 88-47 victory, in a no-doubter. Bouncing back on Thursday, the K-M kids edged-out Pine Island, 53-51, salvaging one half of the week.

Triton bucket boys endure busy week
The Triton boys’ basketball team went 1-2 last week on the hardcourt. On Tuesday, January 24, Randolph topped Triton, 62-54. Friday, the Cobras defeated Medford, 77-54, and on Saturday, Kenyon-Wanamingo bested the Triton boys, 63-55.
