Baseball Bears earn victory on rain-soaked field
Byron baseball team shut out Rochester Lourdes, 8-0, on Friday, April 29, at Mayo Field. As has been pretty much standard procedure, the teams also battled Mother Nature, as rain caused the field conditions to deteriorate, causing a stop in the action after six innings.
The Bears’ victory, however, preserves their undefeated season. John Lutzi pitched 5 innings, surrendering just two hits, while striking out nine batters, as the Bears scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning.
