‘Cats rack up two victories on home ice skate past Waseca 6-0, Albert Lea 9-2

Dodge County Wildcats have been on a scoring binge in sectional action. After beating Waseca they scored 9 goals against Albert Lea on Saturday, March 20, in a 9-2 pummeling of the Tigers.

The Tigers scored first, at 2:09 of the first period. Then, the ‘Cats Brody Lamb scored two goals at 6:56 (assisted by Charlie Blaisdell) and 9:20 (Matt Donovan got the assist) in the first period.

Albert Lea got one back when they scored at 9:53 on a power play.

Lamb, who scored the hat trick in the March 17 game against Waseca, pulled the trigger to score at 12:31 (assisted by Easton Hammill and Donovan) in the opening period, making the score 3-2.

A Wildcat goal by James McPeak at 14:16 (assisted by Lamb) capped the first period scoring.

In the second period, Lamb, who has turned into a Tiger-slayer in play-offs drove one past the Albert Lea goalie at 2:27 (assisted by Donovan and Gavin Giesler). After Lamb’s hat trick plus one, Cooper Jacobson (assists by Gryffon and Miles Smith), Easton Hammill (assisted by Lamb) and Brendon Wolesky (unassisted) scored, giving the ‘Cats an 8-2 lead.

In the final period Isaac Rogne got in on the scoring at 16:50 (assisted by Connor Preston).

Brady Lamb scores hat trick against Bluejays

Dodge County Wildcats pummeled Waseca’s Bluejays 6-0 in the Section 1A Minnesota State Hockey quarterfinals on March 18 at the Dodge County Ice Arena.

The ‘Cats scored in the first period when Gavin Giesler blew the puck by Bluejays’ Max Neaves, the only goal of the first. Giesler was assisted on his goal by Matt Donovan and Brody Lamb.

In the second, the Wildcats broke loose, scoring five goals.

Lamb scored the hat trick in the second period. Lamb’s first goal came at 4:58 in the period, on assists by Charlie Blalsdell and Easton Hammill. Lamb got one by Neaves 32 seconds later when he scored his second goal of the game, with assists by Donovan and Ethan Dale.

Donovan interrupted Lambs’ scoring binge and scored for the ‘Cats at 13:57 of the second, assisted by Giesler. Donovan managed to score again at 14:59 of the second, assisted by Lamb and Easton Hammill.

At 16:15 of the second period, Lamb turned into a ferocious scoring machine, when he blew the puck past Neaves on assists by Donavan and James McPeak for the hat trick and a 6-0 lead.

Neither team scored in the third period.

The Wildcat’s outshot the Bluebirds 38-10.
