FROM RECEPTIONIST TO OFFICER

Wendy Forthun is honored for success in farmland sales

If someone had told Mantorville native Wendy Forthun 20 years ago that she would be an officer for a real estate company, she wouldn’t have believed it. Now that’s exactly whaas a receptionist,  and as she explained, she never thought that she would able to become a salesperson.

“I started with 1 Stop Realty as a receptionist and would have never thought I was cut out to be a real estate salesperson. Until one day, the late Warren Swenson asked if I would consider trying it out and getting license. So, I thought, why not give it a shot,” Forthun said.

From there, Forthun climbed the ladder, starting off as a salesperson and climbing the ranks to being a officer, with the company.

“I got my salesperson license in 2004 and then proceeded to get my broker’s license in 2008. In 2009, I was honored to become the first non- family member to become an officer of the company. In early 2013, I earned the esteemed designation of becoming an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC), which is the highest designation for the land professional in today’s market,” Forthun explained.

After about a year in the business of selling homes, Forthun explained that she had the privilege of having the mentoring of Kirk Swenson, who led her into the world of  farmland sales.

Although selling homes and selling farmland is much different, she explained that it’s something she completely enjoys.

“Selling dirt is what I love and what I do best,” Forthun said.

Since beginning her career, Forthurn has excelled in her career.

Recently, Forthurn was recognized for her success, as  part of the 2018 APEX Producers Club by the Realtors Land Institute a part of RLI APEX Production Awards Program, sponsored by The Land Report. Forthun was recognized by RLI’s CEO, Aubrie Kobernus, as well as The Land Report’s Co-founders,  Eddie Lee Rider Jr. and Eric O’Keefe, at the Special Award’s Ceremony on March 5 during RLI’s 2019 National Land Conference (NLC19) in Albuquerque,  N.M.

“I am so grateful to have received this prestigious award. I feel truly blessed to do what I love each and every day,” Forthun said. “I owe this honor to my family, friends and colleagues who have supported me day in and day out. Last year, I helped our clients buy or sell over 2,370 acres totaling $20,368,000 of farmland. I look forward to hopefully surpassing this next year,” she added.

RLI’s CEO, Aubrie Kobernu, praised Forthun for her success.

We are proud of Wendy Forthun and all of our members that were recognized as part of

our award programs for their accomplishments in

2018. They truly are the crème of the crop when it comes to land real estate professionals,”  said RLI’s CEO, Aubrie Kobernus, MBA, RCE. Top awards winners will receive national recognition

in The Land Report’s spring magazine as well as additional promotions throughout the year.

During her time not out in the field, helping clients, Forthun enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband Aaron, her daughter Kaitlyn, and her son O’Rion (Fuzz).

Forthun said that anyone who is looking for a realtor for agriculture needs that she is only a call away

“If you are looking for a realtor who can help you with all your agriculture real estate needs, whether they be buying, selling, managing, 1031 exchanges etc, give me a call and I can help create solutions, add value and build wealth for you as my client,” Forthun said.
