Put on the green celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Kasson

St. Patrick’s Day will be here before you know it and the Kasson Chamber of Commerce is inviting everyone to stop by downtown Kasson on Saturday, March 11, to get an early start on the celebration.

The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and there will be fun and activities for all at local businesses. Also, be on the look out for the Irish T-Rex who will be roaming around.

Stop in at any of the businesses on the St. Patrick’s Day in Kasson map and grab a bingo card. Visit the stores on the map and get the card stamped. When you get a regular bingo turn it in at the Kasson Mini Mall and be entered into a drawing for a Family Pass to the Kasson Aquatic Center, donated by the Kasson Chamber; a Transparent Tumbler from MBT filled with coins; and four $5 gift cards to Clem’s Cups and Cones.

The first 300 kids get a candy bag from the Kasson Chamber when they turn in the bingo card as well. This gives another opportunity to win as four of the bags will have a 4-leaf clover that can be turned in at the Mini Mall to receive $25 in cash courtesy of Home Federal Savings Bank, Chamber officials said.

There will be a St. Patrick’s Day Parade starting at the Kasson Mini Mall at 3:45 p.m. led by a Caledonia bagpiper. So grab your festive green gear and join in. The parade will end at the Kasson American Legion. At 4:15 also at the Legion there will be a contest for the best costume.

Events around town include activities for kids, drawings for gift certificates and discounts on merchandise, including mini donuts from B-Lo Zero Mini Donuts at the American Legion, spin the wheel game at Colonial Clock Shop, cotton candy and popcorn from The Green Shack at the Kasson American Legion, fortune cookies and a mystery toy at Haku Asian, Irish Cheer Pong at Kasson Liquor Store, a kid coloring hat station at Kasson Variety and gifts for kids at Johnson’s General Store.

The Dodge County Salvation Army Canteen will be downtown with hot cocoa and Hy-Vee will have free cookies and registration for a 48 pack of cookies. There will also be specials at Hidden Pines.

Rise Above Baking Company will have DIY cookie kits at Trail Creek Coffee Roasters and Trail Creek will also have lucky charms for sale. There will be loaded baked potato soup and Mulligan Stew at the American Legion, Shamrock cookie decorating at Simply Tidy, Self-serve temporary tatoos at Six of Swords Tattoo, green sugar cookies and Shamrock mint mocha drinks for sale at Smiling Moose, green beer, food specials, rubber ducks and necklaces at at Tammy’s Place and a Kwik Trip giftcard giveaway and kids crafts at Team O’Malley Counselor Realty.

At The Studio, KMTelecom will have a photo backdrop and necklaces, Midwest Floor Solutions will have an activity for kids, Ready Set Learn will be having coloring pages and The Studio will have an Irish Hot Potato game.

At the Mini Mall the Buckingham team will have a plinko game for kids, the License Bureau a rainbow countdown paper chain and Lucky Photo Booth, You Knead Therapy a Leprechaun Parade and Face Painting. You can meet also meet a Leprechaun and pick up some Leprechaun gait at the Ziebell Law Office.

And stop by Plaza 57 for a Lucky Mint Shake from Clem’s Cups and Cones. There will also be Leprechaun traps at Chaotic Good Brewing.
