K-M Lions scrap metal collection Aug. 20

"Scrap Iron" Mark Packard said he wants to remind everyone that the annual K-M Lions scrap metal collection will be held on Saturday, August 20, at the south parking lot of the K-M Middle School, across the street from the fairground ice arena.   

It is a good time to clean out garages, sheds, and yards of scrap metal that have accumulated through the years, he said. (If you have old gold jewelry that you are tired of sitting in your house collecting dust, they can make arrangements to handle that also). 

They will not take freezers, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, electronics, etc.   

Bring your worn-out washers, dryers, lawn mowers, snow blowers, tillers, grills, aluminum, metal cans, wire, electric motors, metal exercise equipment (now used for hanging clothes), etc. Bikes will not be collected for refurbishing but if you have old worn-out metal bikes they can be put in the scrap dumpsters.   

The dumpsters will be dropped off on Friday p.m. and will be picked up again on Sunday a.m.   

Let your neighbors and friends that live in the area know about this annual project as it is being held earlier than other years. The Lions will be donating the proceeds to a great cause once again, Packard said.
