Dodge County Salvation Army red kettle campaign winds down

Dodge County Salvation Army was shy of its $40,000 red kettle fundraising goal, but those involved say they’re still pleased with how much they did raise.

The campaign raised $28,290, which was just shy of last year’s $32,000 total.

“We always try to do more than we did last year,” said Tanya Young, bell ringing coordinator for the Dodge County Salvation Army and advisory team lead. “We’re still very pleased with how everything turned out.”

Money raised via the red kettle campaign goes to help Dodge County residents throughout the year, including with assistance for rent, utilities and car repairs. The Salvation Army also operates a hygiene project, and helps people who are getting their own home. They also partner with Rogan’s in Rochester to provide back-to-school shoes for students.

“We’re just really thankful for all the bell ringers who did sign up and groups who came out to ring bells,” Young said. “It obviously helps if there’s a ringer at the kettle. Then we make more money.”

If you want to support the Salvation Army directly still, you can mail in a donation check to the Dodge County Salvation Army
