BREAKING NEWS: PLANE CRASH INJURES TWO

Two people have been injured in a plane crash outside of Dodge Center Friday morning.

A small personal airplane landed on its roof in the roadway on County Road 9 just south of 630th Street northeast of Dodge Center, Sheriff Scott Rose said. When deputies arrived on the scene, passengers were trying to exit the aircraft.

Rose said two passengers were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries. The pilot was unharmed. The victims are believed to be from South Dakota.

According to Rose, the pilot was having engine problems and was trying to reach the Dodge Center Airport before it stalled out and he was forced to make an emergency landing.

County Road 9 from Highway 34 to 625th Street will be closed until the investigation is complete and the roadway is cleared.

The sheriff’s office and Dodge Center Fire are on the scene awaiting federal investigators.

The DCI will have more details as they become available.
