Pancakes, Eggs, Whole Hog Sausages, Milk and Coffee

A group of women of the West Concord Trinity Lutheran Church recently donated 18 baby bundles to the Dodge County Public Health Department.

The group gets together monthly and putting together the baby bundles is just one of the projects they work on.

Mavis Dessner explained they raise money through an Easter breakfast at the church and through an ice cream social held during Survival Days so they can help pay for the items that go in the bundles. The group also obtains a grant through the Thrivent Financial charity.

Janet Kelling is one of members of the group. She is a seamstress and she also acts as the buyer for the tiny outfits that come in the bundles.

Kelling explained that she purchases flannel with a baby motif and that fabric is cut to be 42-inch squares. Kelling whipstitches the edges of the blankets, which come in different colors with different baby-themed figures; turtles are a favorite.

Then, usually in October, the group meets with all the items that go into the bundle and put them all together.
